About Ceanne

From small town Saskatchewan, Ceanne Chow was born with scissors in her hands and in salons, sorting perm rods and pushing brooms. It was natural for her to be braiding friends hair by the age of 8 and styling by 10. After a failed perm on her 6 year old sister, Niva Chow (of Canadian band Dearly Beloved) she decided hair school was a must. Post high school, she packed her bags and hopped on a one-way Greyhound to Toronto and completed hair school at Bruno’s School of Hair Design. Mesmerized by the multi-cultural city of fashion, this was an eye widening experience. She has briefly apprenticed alongside stylists from Monroe’s, Rainbow Room, and Sassoon’s, which fuelled future aspirations such as placing in hair competitions as well as becoming a finalist in the prestigious Contessa’s in the early 90’s . After befriending fellow local hairdresser Linda Refosco at Avant Garde, they opened Netwerxx Hair Studio at the tender age of 22. Ceanne then moved on to co-own Studio Hair Salon in Yaletown, Fushion on Robson and now her precious baby, Gloss Salon in the South Granville district. As Kevin Costner put it, “If you build it…they will come”, and they did. Working alone for a period of time gave Ceanne a bigger appreciation for her clients, workmates and memories of holding pins for Vivienne Mackinder, Trevor Sorbie, and the Cheynes Salon in London. Learning from all the masters (such as Oribe and Kevin Murphy) has launched the inner hair-nerd in her. She has worked on countless music videos, fashion shows, TV shoots, and editorials. Besides hair, Ceanne also strongly believes in community and loves charity work with the diversity it brings. Artistic expression keeps her creative blood pulsating. She looks forward to being continually inspired by her peers.
